If you join a cultural tour, you will experience the most important highlights of Jordan.

Follow your passion for horse riding by riding for 3 days in the Wadi Rum. Then visit one of the 7 wonders of the world, Petra, for 1 day. Float in the salty water of the Dead Sea for a day. And finally relax for 1 day in Aqaba on the Red Sea.

An active, sporty horse riding holiday, while visiting the most special sites in Jordan at the same time.

7 Reasons to book a cultural tour with horse riding:

  • You want to combine your passion for horse riding with the highlights in Jordan
  • Visit Petra, one of the new 7 wonders of the world
  • Floating and a mud bath in the Dead Sea
  • To Aqaba for snorkeling and exploring the Arab souk
  • Horse riding in the vast nature reserve of the Wadi Rum desert
  • A cultural tour together with local Bedouins, off the beaten track
  • A combination of a sporting activity with the most beautiful highlights and relaxation

The most beautiful sights:

Petra
Impressive Petra, one of the 7 new wonders of the world. You will find temples, tombs, churches, a Roman theatre, remains of houses carved into the rocks or isolated ruins. The Nabataeans built Petra more than 2000 years ago and Petra was their capital. Nabataeans were traders and a wealthy nation who made their money by protecting the trade caravans. Petra was hidden for centuries but now travelers can see its faded glory, still an impressive highlight of any Jordan trip.

Wadi Rum
A desert so beautiful, impossible to describe in words. The Wadi Rum, the valley of the moon is often called the most beautiful desert in the world. You will go horse riding for 3 days to get a good impression of the Wadi Rum, and to experience its full and diverse beauty. You have your horse to concentrate on and also a beautiful ride to enjoy in a desert of rocks, mountains, gorges, sand dunes and vast plains.

Dead Sea
Imagine not being able to swim in water. This is not a problem. Because the mineral-rich water pushes you up. This is because the Dead Sea contains ten times more salt than the ocean. This makes it possible to float, or read a book (guide). There is also black mud available to use as a body mask.

Aqaba
A relaxing day at the Red Sea, perhaps snorkeling or taking a dive? In the center of Aqaba you will find a mix of shops in Arabic and modern style and many nice restaurants with local and foreign dishes, also called the Souk in Arabic.

Tour Plan

1

Arrival in Jordan, overnight in Petra

Arrival at the airport near Amman. You will be met at the airport by the driver to take you straight to Petra, a journey of over 2 hours. You will spend the night in a tourist class hotel.
2

Visit to Petra, transport to Wadi Rum and overnight stay in a desert camp

Today you will explore the hidden city of Petra, one of the new 7 wonders of the world. Ancient peoples such as the Nabataeans and later the Romans carved a work of art of temples, tombs and caves out of the rocks more than 2000 years ago. Petra means "stone". At its peak, around 50,000 people lived in Petra. The more than one kilometer long Siq (gorge) kept Petra hidden for a long time while it protected the city at that time. At the end of the Siq you suddenly come face to face with the Treasury, the treasury, the most famous building in Petra. So overwhelmingly beautiful that it is almost incomprehensible. The Nabataeans were architects, traders and protectors of the caravans with luxury goods that were transported via the King's Road and the Silk Road from the Far East, Yemen and Oman, via Petra to Damascus and the Mediterranean Sea to Europe. Petra was the special center where the roads from faraway places came together. Petra is built in sandstone rocks. The natural colours, deep red, bright yellow and all shades of grey to black, pure nature, will make you wonder. It is still a lively city, now with tourists who marvel at the works of art. It is a lot of climbing and descending and walking for miles to see as much as possible or just take it easy to let what you see work deeply on you. Later in the afternoon, around 4 o'clock, you will be picked up to take you to Wadi Rum. The desert where you will go horseback riding for 3 days. The first night you will sleep in a desert camp with private sanitary facilities. In a beautiful sheltered place in the desert. A delicious dinner awaits you here, often traditionally prepared underground. Tonight you will meet one of your guides during the horseback riding, tomorrow morning you will meet the horses.

Three days of horse riding in the desert, day 1

Start of your horseback riding adventure through the Wadi Rum. Every day between 4 and 6 hours of horseback riding, in the morning and after lunch. Lunch is prepared in a beautiful place in the desert and consists of a light, tasty meal. During the lunch break, the horses also get their food and will be eating near you. You can relax during this time. The time for lunch depends on the season. Before sunset, the local Bedouins will look for a special place to spend the night and furnish it so that you can spend the evening and night there pleasantly. The wood for the fire has already been collected. The traditional Jordanian meal is prepared, the horses are cared for, you can help, nothing is required, everything is allowed. There are brushes for the horses. There is a campfire and of course the teapot is already on the fire, a nice start to the evening. And then... you can sleep under the millions of stars, in nature, your horse sleeps nearby.

Three days of horse riding in the desert, day 2

We seek out the quiet places as much as possible where you will encounter as few tourists as possible. Every now and then you will see some highlights that are worth it. Remember that the desert is perhaps even more beautiful in the places where there are hardly any tourists because the horses also go through areas where you can hardly get to with a 4x4 wheel. The desert is not the same anywhere. Sometimes you ride through soft sand which is also hard for the horses. Sometimes you go over sand dunes, every now and then you cross a large plain and often you ride along the rocks. Have you ever made a ride through a canyon? There are several in the Wadi Rum! We ride on horse through the white and the red desert. You see rock drawings, water storages built by Bedouins, Romans and Nabataeans or naturally hidden in the rocks. We often ride off the road, although there are no roads in the desert, the horses love to walk in the tracks of the jeeps. Walking, trotting, canter, you will quickly experience what that is like on a temperamental Arabian horse. In the evening you sleep again in nature, under the starry sky, in the company of the horses. Together you look at the stars, maybe you see a shooting star or comet? You fall asleep with the nibbling sounds of the horses around you.

Three days of horse riding in the desert day 3

Every day the Bedouins prepare a delicious traditional Bedouin meal, different every day. They are proud of their kitchen and conjure up the most delicious meals on the “table”. You sit down at a large dish where everyone sits around and eat in the traditional way as the Bedouins are used to, although plates and cutlery are also brought along. The Bedouins have also become skilled in vegetarian cooking. Every day there is a campfire where you can join. The last night you will sleep in the desert camp again where you can choose from a delicious buffet. And of course you can take a refreshing shower here again and sleep in a real bed.
6

Bye bye desert, on the way to Aqaba for a day of sun, sea and sand, or shopping in the souk

After breakfast there is a transfer to Aqaba. In Aqaba you will stay in a diving hotel on the Red Sea with a swimming pool and the Red Sea within walking distance (2 minutes) for diving, snorkeling, swimming or sunbathing. You can take a snorkeling lesson or a try-dive. Equipment for snorkeling and diving can be rented at the hotel. There are possibilities to go to Aqaba souk (center) from the hotel.
7

Transport to the Dead Sea, floating and a mud pack? Overnight in Madaba

The driver will pick you up from the hotel in Aqaba to travel to the Dead Sea for floating in the salty water and a black mud experience. The salty water of the Dead Sea contains many healthy minerals. You will stay overnight in Madaba in a tourist class hotel, close to the airport (45 minutes).
8

Departure to the airport, possibly visit Madaba and/or Mount Nebo

Depending on the departure time of the plane, you will be brought to the airport on time. If your plane does not leave until later in the day, you can visit the mosaic city of Madaba. For example, the St. George Church where an old map of the Dead Sea area was found. The Biblical places are mentioned in Greek. Madaba has more special churches and an Archaeological center that is worth seeing. You have an option to visit Mount Nebo at reduced transportation costs prior to being dropped off at the airport. You can arrange this on site with your regular driver.
